May is the month of the mama!  And this week’s post is directed at all the PL moms out there!  Although the team at PL believes that every single day you should show your mom how much you love and appreciate her, May is especially dedicated as the Month of the Mom.  Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday and we hope you all are going to take the day to enjoy being your amazing mama-self!  Treat yourself to an extra cuddle with your kids, soak in some bubbles, sleep in a little bit on Sunday, get a mama-loving mani/pedi, take time for yourself.  Whatever you choose to do to celebrate yourself this mother’s day, we hope you know how special you are.  You are the front line warriors, the greatest influencers, the supreme support system, the main role models, the leading ladies in your children’s’ lives.  No one could take your place.  So celebrate yourself this Mother’s Day for everything you do!

Who loves Rock & Roll?  We do and hope you do too!  This weekend marks the beginning of the biggest music festival in Southern California—Coachella—and many of our Los Angeles locals are off to Palm Springs to take in the sun and the songs.  If you can’t make it out to the desert this weekend, we hope to bring a bit of rock & roll to you.  Inspired by the crowds of Coachella, this week the Team at PL proposes an impromptu dance party with your kids.  Personally, we love kitchen or living room dance parties so you have lots of room to rock out.  Grab your kids’ favorite dance songs, clear out the furniture, and dance until you drop!  Remember to turn up the music and if you’re ever in doubt of what dance to do, just jump up and down with your hands in the air.  Another fun festival inspired activity for your family is making your own music.  We suggest grabbing some empty cans and boxes to create a one-of-a-kind drum set for your kids.  Although you might regret the loud thumps in the end, the DIY drums can be a fantastically fun family activity.  Whatever you plan to do this weekend, add a bit of rock & roll and remember to rage!

Love is in the air!  And the team at PL is ready to reach out and grab it!  Valentine’s Day can seem a bit silly or superficial—covered in candy hearts and clichés—but the team at PL has some fresh and fun ideas to make this Valentine’s Day an original and imaginative celebration of your love.   Whether you choose to celebrate cupid’s holiday with your entire family, a group of friends, or just your romantic partner…here are some creative and cute family friendly craft projects to make your V-day special.

For some family fun Valentine’s Day crafts, try having the kids cut up a bunch of hearts in all sizes and colors.  All you need is some construction paper, scissors, and string.  Once you’ve made your cut-outs, thread them along on a variety of colored strings of different lengths and hang your love lei anywhere in your house.

If you’re hosting a little V-day par-tay for your family and friends, we love leaving a little Valentine’s party favor for your guests.  Find some small brown bags and fill them with sweet goodies, fold over the top, punch two holes and fasten them with a cute striped string.  Take a feather and cut the tip into a diagonal.  Attach the feather to your fastened string with a cute heart-shaped note.  Once you’re done, you have a cute little cupid care-package for your guests to take home.
