Whether you live in Hollywood or not…this is the season of awards!  Once January hits in the city of lights, the curtain falls, voting begins, and the golden statues are handed out.  This month Los Angeles is a buzz with the Golden Globes, Sundance, Screen Actor’s Guild, Director’s Guild, Writer’s Guild, any other guild, the Critic’s Choice, Spirit Awards, AFI awards, and, of course, the ultimate Academy Awards. Whatever award show you favor, these early months of the year are filled with glamorous parties, beautiful ball gowns, tailored tuxedoes, and red carpets.  Our favorite looks this awards season are odes to a bygone era.  We especially love the dresses that pay homage to the height of Hollywood.  Jennifer Lawrence’s textured BAFTA dress and the gold and white gown worn by Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery are absolute standouts for us this season.  Instead of just watching the awards this year, the team at PL suggests hosting a little award show of your own: create a game and guess the winners of your favorite awards; decorate your table with gold leaf, glitter, and champagne to glam up your viewing party; and serve fun, spiced popcorn and other movie snacks to bring the feeling of the theater into your home.

It’s Movember…the month formerly known as November!  And that means the sudden manifestation of moustaches on many men’s faces.  These men, known as Mo Bros, begin the month clean-shaven growing and grooming their whiskers over the course of the month to raise awareness for men’s health issues. The tradition began in Melbourne, Australia but has quickly become a global moustache movement, with men and women from hundreds of cities across the world participating in the facial hair phenomenon.  As the moustache men become walking, talking billboards for men’s health issues, such as testicular and prostate cancer, many more women join their ranks donning fake facial hair or sporting moustache-inspired jewelry to show their support for the men in their lives.  This month the team at PL joins these Mo Bros in raising awareness for men’s health in honor of all men—our sons, our fathers, our husbands, our brothers, and our friends.

Who is your style inspiration?  Here at PAIGELAUREN one of our fashion icons is Coco Chanel. Coco Chanel inspires us for many reasons including both the elegance of her timeless designs, as well as her determination and struggle.  Working in a world of men, Chanel launched her classic line using fabrics, colors, and designs that had never been used before in high-end fashion.  Chanel was inspired by the world around her and made sophisticated women’s wear that fit her own active lifestyle.  Her classic black-and-white palette and simple elegance may have made her a radical for her time, but it is precisely these qualities of modern simplicity that inspire us at PL today.

This season, PL wants to give a nod to our favorites in fashion nobility, as well as the natural wonder of nature.  Both Chanel’s classic designs and the zig-zag of the zebra inspired our black STRIPE design available in a variety of our Fall styles for both boys and girls. We believe there’s nothing more sophisticated than a black STRIPE to give your look that simple elegance.
